Harder than I thought

For the first time, walking away seemed impossible.
For the first time, walking away hurt so much.
For the first time, walking away is so heart-breaking.

All the while, I’d been afraid that one day I’ll hear those words coming from you.
Yet at this point, those words are coming from me.

There’s been too many ’sorrys’. Maybe along the way we’ve overcompensated, for what we can’t give. Along the way, we’ve hurt each other’s feelings, we’ve seeked solace in each other. Along the way we’ve laughed with each other, we’ve shed tears. Along the way, we spent time together, we’ve avoided each other. Along the way we’ve let each other take the places in our hearts, we’ve also watched each other walk out of our hearts.
